Mexico: Activists groups march in downtown Mexico City on Feb. 16.

Labor and animal rights activists launch protest march in multiple areas of Mexico City, Mexico, Feb. 16. Transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Labor and animal rights activists are marching in multiple locations in central Mexico City as of the morning of Feb. 16. Activists affiliated with the National Torch Movement in Alvaro Obregon (Movimiento Antorchista en Alvaro Obregon) are marching from Estacion Insurgentes Sur to the Institute to Return to the People what has been Stolen (Instituto para Devolver al Pueblo lo Robado, INDEP) on Avenida Insurgentes Sur to demand the construction of housing previously agreed to by INDEP authorities. Similarly, around 250 animal rights activists are marching from the Zocalo to the monument of the Revolution to reportedly denounce breed restrictions for American Bully XL in the UK.

Although the actions will probably remain largely peaceful, authorities will likely maintain an increased security presence near the impacted area and along the march route as a precaution. Transport and business disruptions are likely along the march route for the duration of the demonstration.

Avoid the demonstrations as a precaution. Seek alternative routes to circumvent the protest march areas and related transport disruptions. Allow additional time to reach destinations if operating near the impacted areas. Heed the instructions of authorities.
