Mexico: Student activists plan to march in Mexico City from 16:00 May 2

Around 150 student activists affiliated with the National Center of Democratic Students (Central Nacional de Estudiantes Democraticos, CNED) plan to march in Mexico City on the afternoon of May 2. The reported aims of the march are to express solidarity with Argentinian students, denounce the perceived commercialization of education in Argentina, and support pro-Palestinian demonstrators. Participants will gather at the US Embassy at 16:00 before marching toward the Argentinian Embassy; officials have asserted that the demonstrators may march via Avenida Paseo de la Reforma, Calle Rio Tiber, Calle Rio Balsas, Calle Copernico, Avenida Thiers, Calle Gutenberg, Avenida Presidente Masaryk, and Avenida Paseo de las Palmas.

Although the action should remain largely peaceful, authorities will probably deploy an increased police presence to the vicinity of the demonstration as a precaution. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely along the march route.
