Activits to demonstrate throughout Mexico City, Mexico, June 14; heightened security and localized disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Activists from various organizations, including the National Coordinator of Education Workers (Coordinadora Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educacion, CNTE), plan to demonstrate throughout Mexico City on June 14. Demonstrations organized by the CNTE will likely be the most disruptive. Participants will gather from 13:00 at the Terminal Aerea metro station, located on Boulevard Puerto Aereo, before marching toward Hotel Camino Real Aeropuerto near Mexico City International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de Mexico, AICM). Activists also intend to gather at the union's headquarters at Calle Belisario 32 from 15:00 for a march that has not yet been given a marching route or destination.

Additional demonstrations by multiple groups are planned in various locations, including Mexico City Congress and the Autonomous Metropolitan University Azcapotzalco (Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana Azcapotzalco).

Although the actions should remain largely peaceful, authorities will almost certainly deploy increased police, especially near AICM, as a precaution. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely.

Advice

Avoid all demonstrations as a precaution. If violence occurs, immediately leave the area and seek shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building. Seek alternative routes to circumvent any related disruptions and allow additional time to reach destinations. Do not attempt to navigate around protester-erected roadblocks; allow the police to dismantle them before proceeding. Heed the instructions of security personnel.
