Officials have halted flight operations at Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport (MAD) until further notice due adverse weather conditions. Disruptions had been reported at the facility since at least Jan. 7 due to the passage of Storm Filomena. The closure may continue through at least Jan. 10.

Further transport disruptions affecting overland travel are almost certain in the central areas of Spain. Disruptions triggered by inclement weather and resultant hazards, such as flooding, could persist well after conditions have improved.
