France: Hop! Air France pilot strike delayed to July 13-18 /update 1

Hop! Air France pilots plan to strike moved to July 13-18; flight disruptions anticipated

Warning

Event

A pilot strike organized by the National Syndicate of Airline Pilots (SPNL) at the airline Hop!, a subsidiary of Air France, has been postponed by ten days. The strike will now take place from Thursday, July 13, through Tuesday, July 18, and could result in flight delays and cancelations across the Hop! Air France network.

Context

The strike was initially set to take place on July 3-8 to coincide with the beginning of the traditional summer holidays, a busy travel period in France. The decision to delay the strike was made following intense discussions between the pilot union and airline management.

The union is demanding a clearer definition of Hop! activities and better working conditions, among other things. Negotiations between the union and airline management have been ongoing since September 2016.

Advice

Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights and to contact the airline for further details.
