Historical Trends of Atlantic Hurricane Activity

This hurricane season is the first time multiple pre-season storms have developed and the 6th consecutive year with activity prior to the official start of the season. It's also the first time in history that 13 named tropical storms have developed before September.

With many areas recovering from Category-4 Hurricane Laura, and the peak of the hurricane season approaching (historically, 80% of Atlantic hurricanes develop in September), we are reminded that there are still several months left in the 2020 hurricane season.
