As of mid-September, more than 3.1 million acres have burned across California. Evacuations are underway in several counties as hundreds of wildfires threaten populated areas across the state. California is under a state of emergency as resources continue efforts to contain the wildfires.

 

August Lightning Siege of 2020

The August 17 lightning strikes are responsible for starting hundreds of fires across Northern California, including North Complex, LNU Lightning Complex, SCU Lightning Complex, CZU Lightning Complex, and August Complex (formerly known as the BTG Lightning Complex) fires.
