WorldAware is following developments of the Creek Fire affecting Fresno and Madera Counties. The fire began September 4 in the Big Creek drainage between Shaver Lake, Big Creek, and Huntington Lake. As of September 17, at least 2,623 personnel are onsite battling the blaze that continues to threaten more than 14,000 structures, damaging or destroying 803 to date. The status of nearby roads could change over the coming hours and days; authorities could close routes within the impacted area and evacuate more communities due to fire activity and the needs of response operators. Traffic flows could also be disrupted during re-entry periods after authorities lift evacuation orders. Low visibility from smoke and possible ashfall could contribute to traffic delays and congestion in the region.
