An explosion has been reported in the Hamarweyne area of Mogadishu, early Feb. 23. The blast occurred near a police station and shopping center. The cause of the blast has not been confirmed; however, some emerging media reports suggest that the blast was caused by a suicide bomber. One person has been injured. Casualty numbers may increase as additional reports are received in the coming hours.
Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely near the incident site as investigations continue.
