Nigeria: Fuel tanker fire causing congestion in Papa Ajao area, Lagos, Jan. 7

Event

A fuel tanker caught fire at the Total Bus stop, along the Oshodi expressway under the Apapa Oworonshoki Expressway, in the Papa Ajao neighborhood of Lagos early Nov. 7. Severe traffic delays have been reported along impacted roads, including the Oshodi expressway and Airport Road. Emergency services have been deployed to the site.

Travel delays along the affected route and on alternative routes are likely to persist through Jan. 7.

Avoid the incident site in the coming hours. Reconfirm the status of the route before departure. Plan for significant traffic delays. Avoid all large crowds in the area. Heed the directives of the authorities.
