A protest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 17, over the partial reopening of Varosha (Famagusta district) by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The demonstration has been called for by Greek-Cypriot nationalist groups to demand that the decision and resettlement of displaced persons be reversed. The event will take place at the Deryneia checkpoint where participants are set to gather at approximately 19:30 (local time).

Previous related protests on October 11, led to two arrests after protesters breached the checkpoint.
