Warning

Event

The Extinction Rebellion (XR) environmental activist group has called for a series of demonstrations to be held in Prague from Tuesday, September 29, to Thursday, October 1. Media sources report that on Tuesday participants will congregate at Klarov at 08:30 (local time), near the Malostranska metro station. A second gathering will take place in the same location on Tuesday at 17:00. Similarly, on Wednesday, September 30, demonstrators will march from Klarov at 13:00 to the Straka Academy through the city center. The demonstrations on Thursday are planning to be the most disruptive action of the campaign, with protesters expected to block major streets throughout the city.

Reports indicate that attendance is expected to be limited due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) regulations in place amid the ongoing pandemic; however, localized disruptions should be anticipated in the vicinity. A heightened security presence is also possible.

Advice

Those in Prague are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
