Warning

Event

Activists representing organizations against gender-based violence, including the Organized Women of Mexico (Mujeres Ogranizadas Mexico) and the Feminist Students of Mexico (Feministas Universitarias UAEMex), plan to hold a protest in Toluca (State of Mexico) on Tuesday afternoon, September 15. Participants will gather at the Plaza de los Martires at 13:45 (local time). It is anticipated that the number of attendees will be in the hundreds.

A heightened security presence and localized transport disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstration. Whilst the protest is expected to be peaceful, law enforcement are likely to monitor it closely as public events are currently prohibited under coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions.

Advice

Those in Toluca and other western coastal areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate transportation disruptions, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, including evacuation orders. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.
