Hundreds protested outside Bucharest's Cotroceni Palace on Thursday, June 18, to denounce a proposed ban on gender identity studies in schools and universities across Romania. People held up banners outside the palace, the official residence of President Klaus Iohannis, as they called for the bill to be scrapped after parliament approved it on Tuesday, June 16. There were no reports of any clashes on Thursday, and the protest seemed to remain peaceful.

Further demonstrations are possible in Bucharest over the near term.
