France: Health sector to stage nationwide protests June 16

Health sector organizations and unions to demonstrate nationwide on June 16; a heightened security presence and disruption to business continuity are to be expected

Health sector organizations and unions are planning to hold nationwide demonstrations on Tuesday, June 16, including in the capital Paris. The demonstrations will aim to denounce grievances such as a lack of equipment in hospitals, a pay increase for staff, and additional job vacancies for the understaffed sector, among other things.

Separately, the Federation of Health and Social Action proposed on Monday, May 18, a month of protest action, with dates including Tuesday, May 19, Tuesday, May 26, Tuesday, June 2, Tuesday, June 9, and then finally culminating in the nationwide June 16 demonstration.

A heightened security presence is to be anticipated on the aforementioned dates and disruptions to business continuity should be expected.
