On Sunday, May 10, Kassala state's acting governor Mahmoud Baker Homd issued a statement reporting that three people were killed and 79 others injured in clashes between two tribes in Kassala (Kassala state) which began on Thursday, May 7. The violence was a continuation of a long running tribal feud between members of the Beni Amer and Nuba ethnic groups. Houses were set ablaze in the unrest and at least 59 people have been arrested.

Further violent clashes are possible in Kassala in the near term.
