At least six protesters were killed and 19 others were wounded amid clashes with police in the city of Feroz Koh (Ghor province) on Saturday, May 9. Security forces reportedly fired on the demonstrators after they gathered outside of the governor's office to demand more equitable food aid distribution. Reports indicate that some of the protesters were armed and attempted to set fire to the office before police intervened. Additional security personnel have reportedly been deployed to the city to maintain order. 

Further unrest, and potential clashes between protesters and security forces, remains possible over the coming days.
