Authorities issue weather warning for northwestern provinces May 6; take appropriate precautions

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology warned that high temperatures are forecast in Cambodia's northwestern provinces from Friday, May 8, until Sunday, May 10, with temperatures expected to reach up to 41°C (105°F). The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has also warned the public of thunder and lightning. 

Advice

Individuals in Cambodia are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid strenuous activities or spending time outdoors, particularly during midday, wear loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and avoid dehydrating liquids, such as alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated drinks, and seek immediate medical attention if exhibiting symptoms of heatstroke, such as nausea, confusion, headache, rapid and strong pulse, and dry skin.
