The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeted three Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip during the early morning hours (local time) of Wednesday, May 6, in retaliation for an earlier rocket attack. According to an IDF statement, Israeli tanks hit three Hamas positions in northern Gaza after a rocket was fired into the Eshkol region. The rocket landed in an open area and did not cause any damages or casualties.

Similar cross-border strikes are possible over the near term.
