Suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) insurgents reportedly killed at least 11 people in Tirap district (Arunachal Pradesh state) on Tuesday, May 21. According to initial reports, the gunmen ambushed the convoy of a local National People's Party (NPP) politician and his entourage near Bogapani village on Tuesday morning (local time). Officials pledged to carry out security operations targeting NSCN insurgents in response to the killing, although further details were not immediately provided. 

A heightened security presence is to be anticipated in Tirap district in the wake of the incident. Similar attacks are possible in Arunachal Pradesh state over the coming weeks.
