Protest march staged at Zócalo in Mexico City May 20; localized transportation disruptions reported

Labor unions are reportedly staging a protest march at the Plaza de la Constitución (Zócalo) on Monday, May 20. The Secretariat of Public Security has advised motorists to avoid the area as the march has caused localized transportation disruptions. According to officials, an additional march is planned from the intersection of Paseo de la Reforma and Avienda Bucareli to the National Supreme Court of Justice building from 11:00 (local time) on Monday. 

Similar demonstrations are possible over the coming days. A heightened security presence and associated traffic disruptions are to be expected near protest sites.
