Cameroon: University teachers to strike May 13

Higher education union announces plans to hold three-day strike starting on May 13; associated protests possible

The National Union of Higher Education Teachers (SYNES) is planning to start a three-day strike on Monday, May 13, to protest the delayed salary payments. University teachers will cease all academic activities starting at 07:30 (local time). According to union leaders, further strikes are possible if the government fails to make the payments. Associated demonstrations may also take place during the work stoppage, but no protests have been announced as of Saturday, May 4.
