Underground metro service has reportedly been temporarily suspended in Taipei as of 14:00 (local time) on Thursday, April 18, after a 6.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Hualien county. The quake hit at 13:01 approximately 11 km (7 mi) northwest of the city of Hualien at a depth of 19 km (12 mi). Buildings reportedly shook in Taipei, but no damages or injuries have been reported. Aftershocks are possible in the coming hours.
