The road closures are concentrated around Rattanakosin Island and public traffic will be barred from 16:00 to 21:30 (local time). Main roads subject to the closure include Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, Khao San Road, Somdet Phra Pin Klao Road and bridge, Sanam Chai Road, Maha Rat Road, and Phra Sumen Road. Residual traffic delays and congestion are likely in the hours following the event.

Context

Maha Vajiralongkorm, better known as King Rama X, will hold a coronation ceremony on May 4 with related festivities and events being held on May 5-6. This will be the first coronation ceremony held in Thailand since 1950. King Bhumibol, the father of Rama X, reigned from 1950 until his death in 2016 and was well regarded in Thailand.
