France: Orange weather alerts issued for seven departments March 6

Orange weather alerts for strong winds issued in Pyrénées and Central-East regions March 6; transportation disruptions and power outages possible

On Wednesday, March 6, weather officials issued orange weather alerts (the second-highest on a four-tier scale) for strong winds up to 150 km/h (90 mph) in seven departments of the Pyrénnées and Central-East regions, including the departments of Ariège, Haute-Garonne, Hautes-Pyrénées, Isère, Loire, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, and Rhône. According to the European National Meteorological Services (meteoalarm), the alerts will be in effect through Thursday, March 7. Related transportation disruptions, hazardous driving conditions and power outages are possible.
