Tropical Storm Wutip to pass south of Mariana Islands on February 23-25; tropical storm-force winds expected in Guam

Tropical Storm Wutip is forecast to pass south of the Mariana Islands, bringing tropical storm-force winds to the island of Guam beginning Saturday, February 23. The storm, which is producing sustained winds of 110 km/h (69 mph) as of 10:00 (local time) on Thursday, February 21, is expected to strengthen to a typhoon with 195 km/h (120 mph), the equivalent of a Category 3 hurricane. Strong winds, heavy rain, and heavy surf is expected for Guam and the Mariana Islands in the coming days, with the worst weather forecast from Saturday through Monday, February 25.
