French Polynesia: Airport staff threaten to strike from November 9

Airport staff union threatens to hold strikes at airports in Tahiti, Raiatea, Bora Bora, and Rangiroa beginning November 9; flight disruptions possible

Airport workers represented by the CSIP union are threatening to go on strike beginning on Friday, November 9, at Tahiti’s Fa'a'ā International Airport (PPT), Aéroport de Raiatea (RFP), Bora Bora Airport (BOB), and Rangiroa Airport (RGI). The CSIP is denouncing staff shortages among security agents, as well as employees being forced to work outside their job descriptions and hostility between staff and management. According to media reports on Monday, November 5, negotiations between CSIP and airport management are not expected to take place before the strike is scheduled to begin at midnight (local time) on Friday.
