Colombia: Ongoing Avianca flight disruptions

Colombia’s national airline Avianca suspended ticket sales for domestic flights on Thursday, August 2, following a string of flight delays and cancelations attributed to operational issues. Dozens of domestic flights have been canceled since July 31. Ticket sales are expected to remain suspended through at least August 3.

Affected travelers are being permitted to postpone their travel at no extra cost.

While the airline has blamed the disruptions on a technical issue, some speculate they are due to a shortage of pilots.
