Large protests planned in Munich July 22; heightened security presence and transportation disruptions expected near demonstration sites

Large demonstrations are planned to be held in Munich on Sunday, July 22, to denounce the policies of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU) party. At least 25,000 people are expected to participate in several associated rallies across the city from 13:00-14:30 (local time), including at Goetheplatz, the intersection of Bavaria and Hans-Fischer streets, the DGB union office, and Karl-Stützel-Platz. Demonstrators will then converge at 15:00 at Königsplatz. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be anticipated around demonstration sites.
