UK: South Western Railway eight-days strike July, August, September
South Western Railway workers to strike on 26, 28, and 31 July as well as on 4,11, 18, 31 August and 1 September; plan alternative means of transportation

Members of the Rail, Maritime, and Transport Union (RMT) employed by the South Western Railway are planning to hold an eight-days strike over six weeks, on Thursday, July 26, Saturday, July 28, and Monday, July 31, as well as on Saturdays, August 4, 11, 18, Friday, August 31, and Saturday, September 1.
Significant disruptions (reduced services, delays, overcrowding) are expected along the South Western Railway network during the strike and may affect travellers in the south-west of Britain. Increased road traffic congestion is also possible if large numbers of commuters are forced to seek alternative means of transportation.
Context
The strike is being held to protest a British government plans to introduce driver-only train operations on the lines; currently, the lines employ both drivers and conductors (or guards) on each train.
