Authorities in the southern state of Kerala have warned the population of heavy rainfall - 12-20 cm (5-8 in) in a 24-hour period - from Tuesday, July 10, onward. The state has already been hit by heavy rain since July 8. The districts of Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kannur are predicted to receive the most intense rainfall in the coming hours, along with thunderstorms and violent winds.
