Ghana: Government to increased security along northern border

Officials announced the start of Operation Kondanlgou 2018 along the northern border of Ghana on Thursday, May 17. Operation Kondanlgou 2018 aims to increase security and combat cross-border crime. The operation will be undertaken in collaboration with Togo, Burkina Faso, and Benin and will include increased border and highway patrols, creation of checkpoints to help control movement in the area, and random searches for arms and other contraband goods.  Operational command will be based in Bawku and will cover Kulungugu, Namon, Bunkpurugu, Nalerigu, Gambaga, Walewale, Nankpanduri, Bolgatanga, Tongo, Nangodi, Zebilla, Binduri, Pusiga, Sapeliga, and Garu.
