Shooting incident at Trump hotel in Miami suburb early May 18; suspect taken into custody; no further threat identified

A man was taken into custody after opening fire in the lobby of a Miami-area hotel owned by President Donald Trump. The incident occurred around 01:30 (local time) on Friday, May 18, at the Trump National Doral Golf Club, located in the suburb of Doral. The assailant was shot and one police officer responding to the incident was injured, although he was apparently not shot. No other casualties have been reported.

The attacker was reportedly yelling about Trump during the incident. Officials have not yet stated if they are treating the shooting as a terrorist act. An investigation involving the FBI and the Secret Service is underway.

No further threat has been identified at present.
