Flash flood alerts in effect May 17 for various areas of the Mid-Atlantic, including DC; monitor local weather forecasts

The National Weather Service has issued flood and flash flood alerts for a large swathe of the Mid-Atlantic region. The alerts are in effect as of early Thursday, May 17, from northern New Jersey down through West Virginia, i.e. all or parts of the following states: New Jersey, Pennsylvania (including Philadelphia), Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia, as well as the capital Washington, DC.
