Panamanian construction workers continue to strike nationwide May 16; associated protests possible in coming days

A nationwide indefinite strike launched by construction workers affiliated with the National Union of Workers of Construction and Similar Industries (SUNTRACS) continues in Panama as of Wednesday, May 16. The strike was launched on April 18 to demand salary increases and better working conditions. Associated protests and consequent traffic disruptions (including roadblocks) are possible in the coming days and weeks until the dispute is settled.
