Blowing dust and heavy rainfall is forecast in several parts of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, May 8. According to the Saudi General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection, strong winds are forecast to blow dust in Riyadh, Mecca, and Madinah regions on Tuesday. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also forecast to accompany high winds and blowing dust over Northern Borders, Al-Jawf, and northern Madinah regions on Tuesday, and into Ha'il and Al-Qasim regions, and near Hafar Al-Batin (Eastern Province) by Tuesday night (local time). Further rainfall is forecast for the regions of Al-Qasim, Riyadh, Eastern Province, and high elevations in Mecca and Madinah on Wednesday, May 9, and Thursday, May 10. The blowing dust and rainfall may reduce visibility; associated road and air transportation disruptions (including flight delays and cancelations) are possible in affected areas.
