Authorities confirmed at approximately 20:40 (local time) that two people were killed and another 20 wounded in the vehicle-ramming incident in Münster on Saturday, April 7. The driver of the van, who has been identified as a German citizen, killed himself after driving into a crowd of people near the Kiepenkerl restaurant at approximately 16:45. Officials are still investigating the incident but have said that currently there is no indication of an Islamic extremist motive. Police are continuing to ask people to avoid the inner city area.
