Peru: Students protest in Lima February 27

Young people are set to stage a demonstration on Tuesday, February 27, in the capital Lima against a proposed labor law (Bill 1215). Context

Bill 1215, nicknamed the "Youth Slave Law" by critics, proposes reforms that would require students in technical majors to work in unpaid internships for companies in relevant fields for 448 hours over a maximum of three years as part of their educational training. Thousands of students participated in a demonstration protesting Bill 1215 at Plaza San Martín on February 23; protesting students clashed with security forces before being forcibly dispersed. The students had planned on marching to the Congress building.
