Senegal: Proof of yellow fever vaccination required for entry

Yellow fever vaccination certificate required for all travelers upon entry to Senegal

Informational

Event

As of Thursday, February 22, all travelers entering Senegal are now required to show proof of vaccination against yellow fever. According to health officials, all travelers without such certification will be immunized upon arrival.

Context

Symptoms of yellow fever - a mosquito-borne disease - generally appear within three to six days following infection and include fever, chills, muscle and back pain, vomiting, headaches, and, in more serious cases, hemorrhaging and organ failure. The vaccine provides life-long immunity.

Advice

Travelers to Senegal are advised to adhere to all entry requirements (including vaccination requirements), ensure that they are traveling with all necessary documentation, and contact their nearest Senegalese consulate or embassy for further information.
