Victims of the February 14 Parkland school shooting to hold march in Tallahassee on Feb. 21; anticipate transportation disruptions

Students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, as well as thousands of other people, are expected to hold a rally in Florida's state capital Tallahassee on Wednesday, February 21, to denounce school shootings and demand that Florida lawmakers revise state gun laws. Demonstrators will rally at 07:45 (local time) in front of the Florida Capitol and the Florida Senate. A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the rally.

Context

On February 14, a mass shooting was reported at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida; at least 17 people were killed. Mass shootings are common in the US; five other school shooting incidents involving causalities had occurred in the country since the beginning of the year alone. Since 2013 there have been nearly 300 such incidents, one every week on average.
