United States: Cold weather prompts flight disruptions in Chicago Feb. 5

Extremely cold temperatures and heavy snowfall prompted numerous flight delays and cancelations at Chicago-area airports on Monday, February 5. As of Monday afternoon (local time), at least 440 flights have been canceled at Chicago's O'Hare Airport (ORF) and Midway Airport (MDW), with at least 400 more flights experiencing delays. According to weather officials, a winter weather advisory is in effect until midnight on Monday for the counties of Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane, McHenry, Kendall, Grundy, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb and LaSalle.

Heavy snowfall and cold temperatures are expected to persist in Chicago in the coming days; associated flight delays and cancelations - as well as other transportation disruptions - remain possible.
