Peru: Rain alerts in Andean region Jan. 25-27

Highest-level alerts issued for ongoing heavy rain in Peruvian Andean region; monitor weather reports

The national meteorological service SENAMHI has issued rain alerts for the Andean region. Level 4 alerts - the highest tier - are in place in parts of Cajamarca, La Libertad, Áncash, Arequipa, Cusco, Puno, and Moquegua. Level 3 and 2 alerts are in place throughout the rest of the region.

The warnings are currently set to remain in place through Saturday, January 27. Associated flooding and mudslides cannot be ruled out. Flooding has already been reported along the Tambo River in Satipo province (Junín region).

Individuals in affected areas are advised to follow weather forecasts and adhere to any advice issued by the local authorities.
