On Wednesday, December 27, the Belizean Ministry of Health issued an alert warning of an increase in cases of gastroenteritis (stomach bug) throughout the country. The ministry is advising healthy people to take hygienic precautions, such as frequent and thorough hand washing, and individuals presenting symptoms - such as diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and fever - to seek immediate medical attention.
