Planned road closures in Singapore's Central Business District December 31 until early January 1 due to New Year's celebrations; extended public transport hours announced for early on January 1

Multiple roads in Singapore's Central Business District (CBD) will be closed to vehicles from the evening of Sunday, December 31, until early on Monday, January 1, for the New Year's Countdown event. Singaporean police have prohibited drivers from stopping or parking their vehicles on the Marina Coastal Highway and East Coast Parkway (Benjamin Sheares Bridge) during the New Year's Eve fireworks display. The Benjamin Sheares Bridge is closed to foot traffic from 17:00 (local time) on Sunday to 02:00 on Monday. Individuals are also prohibited from gathering on Esplanade Bridge and Helix Bridge (Bayfront Avenue) during the New Year's festivities. Public transport services (including trains and buses) will feature extended hours of service early on some routes on January 1 to accommodate those participating in New Year's celebrations.

Large gatherings are expected at The Promontory, One Fullerton (Merlion Park), Esplanade Park, Esplanade Waterfront Promenade, Marina Bay Sands Promenade, and elsewhere in the Marina Bay area. More than 350,000 people are expected to participate in Singapore's public New Year's Countdown celebration. A map of associated events is available here.
