Strict enforcement of visa regulations in Thailand; violations can lead to fines and potential imprisonment

Individuals traveling to Thailand are reminded to strictly follow visa regulations due to potentially severe repercussions for violations, including fines or imprisonment. Authorities fine individuals THB 500 (USD 15) each day overstayed. Furthermore, individuals caught by immigration police will be detained and imprisoned until fines are paid and flights out of the country are secured. Repeated violations of visa rules may lead to a long-term ban on entry into the country.
