United Kingdom: Violent incident at London’s Oxford Circus /update 1

Shots fired in London’s Oxford Circus tube station and on Oxford Street; avoid the area

London’s Oxford Circus tube (metro) station was evacuated at 16:39 (local time) on Friday, November 24, following a security incident. According to a statement made by the Metropolitan Police at 17:16, a number of shots were fired in the station as well as above ground on Oxford Street. The incident is being treated as a possible terrorist attack. Police are on the scene and continue to advise people to avoid the general area, located in London's West End. People on Oxford Street are being advised to take immediate shelter indoors.

Oxford Circus station as well as Bond Street Station have been closed.

As of yet there are no reports of casualties. This is a developing situation.
