High winds and rain forecast in UAE November 23-25; consequent transportation disruptions possible

The United Arab Emirates' National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) issued a weather alert on Tuesday, November 21, warning that exposed coastal areas are forecast to experience winds of up to 20-35 km/h (12-22 mph) and blowing dust, while nearby areas on the Persian Gulf are expected to see winds of up to 55 km/h (34 mph) from Thursday, November 23, through the afternoon of Saturday, November 25. There is also a chance of rainfall over northern and western areas of the country late on Thursday and on Friday morning, as well as in coastal and northern areas of the country on Friday and on Saturday morning. Rough sea conditions are expected on Friday night in the Persian Gulf. Consequent transportation disruptions are possible in the affected areas of the UAE over the coming days.
