The National Emergency Office (ONEMI) has issued a red alert - the highest level - for the commune of Colina due to an ongoing wildfire. The warning has been in effect since 17:30 (local time) on Tuesday, November 21. The fire, named “Chicureo” had burned some 80 hectares (200 acres) of land as of Tuesday evening. However, at that time populated areas were not thought to be at immediate risk.

Colina is located approximately 20 km (13 mi) north of the capital Santiago.
