China: 6.5-magnitude earthquake hits Sichuan province August 8

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck in the west-central province of Sichuan at approximately 13:19 (UTC) on Tuesday, August 8. According to the USGS, the epicenter of the quake was 200 km (120 mi) northwest of Guangyuan at a depth of 10 km (6 mi). There are no immediate reports of damage in the area, although that could change as further information is still emerging.

During an earthquake, protect your head from falling debris as best you can and only attempt to evacuate if on the ground floor.
