France: Air France suspends flights to Caracas

Air France suspends flights to and from Caracas, over coming days amid security concerns

Informational

Event

Air France has suspended all flights to and from Venezuela from Sunday, July 30, until at least Tuesday, August 1, due to security concerns. This suspension came ahead of a controversial constitutional referendum that took place on Sunday and following months of violent social unrest.

Context

As a result, numerous other airlines - including Avianca Airlines, Iberia, American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta, Lufthansa, Air Canada, LATAM, and AeroMexico - have suspended or reduced services to and from Venezuela in recent months and years due to currency exchange issues combined with low demand and deteriorating security conditions.

Advice

Travelers are advised to make alternate arrangements when flying to, from, or via Venezuela.
